First and foremost, I am a CIRS patient who can understand and relate to the clients I work with. I am a Shoemaker Proficiency Partner who works with CIRS patients on the Shoemaker Protocol using my the B3 Model of Care™️. This model is based on Biology, Brain & Behavior. I have created this method using my educational background and area of research to help people understand what makes healing hard to do. I look at the biological factors that are creating illness, including the CIRS labs, what their brain state is (what is not functioning optimally), and then their behavior (for CIRS patients I typically deal with anxiety, loss of focus, depression, and difficulty following the Shoemaker Protocol). I then work with them on these three areas simultaneously to help them them adhere to the Shoemaker Protocol with less frustration and drop off. This method has proven extremely successful in dealing with this group. My work with this group is what led me to go back to school and work towards my PhD is educational psychology. I chose this specialization because of the heavy focus on Neuroscience, specifically how the brain perceives, encodes, processes and retrieves information. This is particularly important in CIRS patients as there are areas of the brain structurally changed by CIRS which accounts for some of the symptoms. It also affects behavior so if it is not addressed, patients will struggle to follow the very plan that will heal them. I am able to help CIRS patients better adhere to the Shoemaker Protocol by presenting it in a way that does not overwhelm while healing three vital areas of their body that put them in the perfect position to learn the protocol and follow through.
